Winter Wonderland and a Magic Carpet ride!

So I know what everyone is thinking, when am I going to the Winter Olympics? Well just so we are clear I am not a skier and I just couldn't get the hang of it this weekend. It could have been the huge mountain, the amazing skiers I was with or the kids that looked like they were born to ski and grew up on the mountain. I was beyond intimidated and def should have planned a few more lessons before trying to dominate the slopes at Alyeska Ski resort. Yes I did fall on the "magic carpet" that is for a super small bunny slope (toddlers were flying past me with the smallest skis Ive ever seen), yes my skis popped off, yes they stopped the whole thing so I could get up, yes I yelled at Kip for not being a good teacher, and yes I ended up sitting by the fire pit for more time then I actually skied. Its no secret I get frustrated easy but this was a true test, I felt silly, like everyone was laughing at me and that I was holding the boys back from amazing runs on the mountain. I finally gave up and decided to promise to make myself take more lessons and eventually become a decent skier, or at least never to fall down on the magic carpet again!

Decided to head back to meet up with the girls, we decided to sled and things got crazy!

The snow was so deep! and this area was amazing, we even made a new friend buddy!

After the boys came home for lunch I sent Kip out with our outdoor video camera and he got some great pictures and videos!

Fat Tuesday and Mardi Party!

After seeing every ones awesome pictures from Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Fat Tuesday and having a super bad day at work, I am sure missing my favorite ladies and one of the best times of my life!

Cant wait to go back to celebrate the best friend that ever was Miss Donna C Petillo, and her last year as a single lady!

My NOLA baby and my MOHO for life, miss you more than words!

ALL my loves who I miss like crazy and cant wait for the warm weather! Wish we could go back everyday!

Cant wait to get back to the lower 48 and some of my favorite ladies! Thank you for everything!

Missing some of the best co-workers a girl could ask for! Cant believe so many wonderful people work in the same place, doesn't even show how many amazing people work at Wake Forest Baptist Health(or the B). Wishing I could ship everyone to Alaska!!

Also my BEST FRIEND SUZIE is getting MARRIED in VEGAS in a few weeks! Cant wait to see you and have the time of our lives in Las Vegas!!! So over the moon happy for her and can hardly contain my excitement!!!! YAYYY

Also missing my family like crazy, my aunts, my uncles, Godparents and of course my mom (w/ puppies) and dad have been so supportive in my life change and I'm so lucky to have them as parents. So thank you for everything and all the amazing advice and support!

Time to Ski!!!!

So only 2 more days of work then headed to my first ski weekend at Alyeska Ski Resort! I am super excited but def super nervous. After one ski lesson Ive decided to stick to the bunny slopes and just try to get better. Made sure I had all of my equipment and even picked up a new winter ski shirt (hot pink) and ski goggles (would have much rather had a new pair of sun glasses). But spring is still far away.

Also it just keeps snowing, snowing and snowing. Woke up to snow from over night and continued to snow all day. Prob need to spend a few more hours in front of the light box but we are getting 5min of sunlight everyday. Its even a little bit lighter when I get off work.

There is so much snow that the city just keeps pushing it around and trucking it to these "mountains" of snow around the city. This is a very small one next to the shopping center.

Also I wanted to share a few of the photos common in the Anchorage news paper, which also has a section dedicated to moose sightings :) Loving the wildlife!

Also thought I would give a map of Alaska since everyone seems to ask me where I live in Alaska. And to give people a better understanding on where Anchorage is located. Also shows how large the state actually is!

Hope everyone had a great Valentines Day, we had a great day and dinner out. So lucky to have such a sweet boyfriend and decided to make him brownies before he got home from work! Also gave him a few beers from local area brewers, pint glasses and a bottle of his favorite gin (there was a theme).

And then Kip came home with a few things himself!

Including my metal sign Kip got for me as my "move to Alaska present" when I first moved up here, I'm a little obsessed with it. And its hanging in our dinning room/living room. We then went out for a great dinner at a near by restaurant with great food and wine.

Hoping to feel better after being super sick for the last few days, and hoping I don't get Kip really sick too! Should be an interesting weekend at our house the South Carolina Gamecocks play VMI in their baseball opener this weekend. Wish I wasn't sick and didn't have to work all weekend but hoping for a Gamecock win!! GOOOO COCKS!

Pizza....Pizza....Snow plow.....STOP!

So I am officially alive after my first ski experience and taking my first lesson, of course it was snowing but was actually a very warm day. I decided to take a lesson at a local ski area before our ski trip at the end of the month. I was lucky and got a great instructor, she was also a nurse and was taking a break from working to teach skiing. Her husband is actually a Doctor at the hospital I currently work at, if only we all could be that lucky, knew I should have held out for a MD.....kidding kidding!

Getting ready after I got all my gear...I would just like to say it is very hard to look attractive in tons of layers and ski clothes...I promise I am not as large as these pics make me look and I'm not prego :)

After I fell for the first time, for the record I only fell once during my lesson and that's when Kip decided to take my picture. Then a second time to save my life after kip took me down death mountain and I started going toward the drop off...eeekkk
